Foreskin
Issues regarding the foreskin are a common source of referrals to a paediatric surgeon. There are many misconceptions in the community about what is normal vs abnormal, usually related to the retractility/tightness (phimosis) or suspected infections (balanitis) of the penis and foreskin.
The vast majority of foreskin problems can be dealt with conservatively, without surgical intervention. Occasionally surgical intervention is warranted, which can be foreskin-preserving or circumcision. Dr Rampersad has extensive experience with all treatment options.
Circumcisions requested for non-medical reasons are unable to be performed in the public system. Requests for this will be performed via the private system. Contact us for further information regarding this.
